Who we are: Northern RNA Inc. is a new Canadian CMO specializing in the production of nucleic acid products that support life-enabling work. Our goal is to work alongside our customers to provide scalable manufacturing capacity and to help them accelerate innovation in bringing their products from benchtop to bedside or field.
Position: We are seeking an enthusiastic chemist with expert knowledge of synthetic nucleotide chemistry, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in complex multi-step product synthesis to lead our chemistry process technologies. The
chemist will work under safe, highly regulated, and documented conditions, supporting research and manufacturing according to GMP and regulatory guidelines. Activities in this role: * Design and safe implementation of novel synthetic routes and manufacturing scale-up
*Develop new analytical methodologies to characterize products using techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis * Coordinate and collaborate with CROs to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects * Provide summary presentations, detailed reports, development plans and contribute to strategy related to specific projects, process validation, inspection, and audit readiness * Develop SOPs for manufacturing, routine processes, and quality testing of products * Train personnel on processes and techniques as needed Who you are: * PhD or M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from a recognized university with a minimum of 5 years
of industry experience * 3+ years of demonstrated leadership in behavioral competencies and project management * Strong expertise and proven capabilities in synthetic route optimization and troubleshooting, large-scale multi-step organic synthesis, purification methodology development and total synthetic organic chemistry * Technical experience with HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, data analytics and analytical bench techniques * Knowledge of GMP and regulatory standards is an asset * Extensive experience in nucleotide chemistry, characterization and/or manufacturing is a plus * Meticulous at keeping records and organization * Experience managing other is plus * Excellent written and oral communication skills
