Topic: Design, synthesis and study of therapeutic agents in the treatment of infectious diseases Our research area is at the interface of chemistry and biology, and concerns the search for new therapeutic targets and novel modes of action in the treatment of cancer or infections (viruses, parasites). These issues involve the implementation of new synthetic methodologies developed within academic and collaborative networks for molecular modelling and biological assessments. The international visibility of the team is closely associated with the chemistry of nucleic acids components (nucleosides and nucleotides), recent projects lead us to develop new aspects related to heterocyclic chemistry or the use of supported synthesis methodologies. The candidate will join the academic team (~10 persons) and participate to the dynamics of the team. He/She will be involved in the ANR 2021 program and PAMalaD project, that is related to the synthesis and the study of nucleos(t)ide analogues as antimalarial agents. Candidate Profile: He/She must have a strong experience in organic synthesis and characterization of molecules of biological interest. A well-established experience in medicinal and/or organic chemistry is essential, involving as example: multi-step synthesis, heterocyclic and/or phosphorus chemistry. Experience in the field of nucleic acid components would be appreciated without being regarded as indispensable. We are seeking for a highly-qualified and motivated person.
The following points are considered mandatory: • The applicant should hold a Ph.D. for less than 5 years.
• The candidate is required to have the ability to do independent scientific work as well as good proficiency in spoken and written English.
• The applicant should have a well-established experience in medicinal and organic chemistry; knowledge in the field of phosphorylated biomolecules and/or nucleo(s)tide chemistry will be appreciated.
Languages: English and/or French Founding: ANR 2021, PAMalaD project with CNRS as employer. Position available for 12 months (renewable once) and starting from March 1st, 2022. Salary will depend upon experience (starting from ~1800 € net / monthly).
